The sun dips low, the sky lights up in layers of peach, gold, and violet, and for a few minutes, everything feels a little softer, a little quieter. Sunsets have a way of slowing us down, and Green Bay is full of spots where you can soak in every last glowing second. From waterfront views to peaceful parks, these are the places locals go when the sky puts on its evening show.
Eagle’s Nest Boat Launch
3265 Nicolet Dr, Green Bay, WI 54311
Once home to the iconic Eagle’s Nest Supper Club, this spot sat quiet for about a decade, waiting for its next chapter. Thanks to the Brown County Parks Department, it’s officially back in action as a fresh new park and boat launch. Bring your boat, your fishing pole, or just a picnic basket and a camp chair. As the sun dips low over the bay, you’ll get one of the newest and most scenic seats in Brown County.
Communiversity Park
2531 Nicolet Dr, Green Bay, WI 54311
Tucked away on the UW-Green Bay campus, Communiversity Park is one of those hidden gems that locals love and visitors are pleasantly surprised to stumble upon. It’s small, it’s peaceful, and it just so happens to have a front-row seat to some seriously stunning sunsets over the bay.
While you won’t find a ton of bells and whistles here (no playgrounds or boat launches, just vibes), the wide-open grassy space and unobstructed water views make it the perfect place to kick back and watch the sky do its thing.
Voyageur Park
100 William St, De Pere, WI 54115
Right in the heart of De Pere, this 21-acre gem is home to playgrounds, park shelters, and instant access to the Fox River Trail, which means there’s plenty to do before the sun sets. Gather the fam and pack a picnic, or if you’re in the mood to stretch your legs, you’ll find the entrance to the De Pere Riverwalk and Wildlife Viewing Area (this is a great place to see the pelicans when they’re here visiting). Enjoy a scenic little adventure that gets even better as the sky starts to glow.
Bay Beach Ferris Wheel
1313 Bay Beach Rd, Green Bay, WI 54302
Hop aboard The Big Wheel at Bay Beach and take in some of the best views in Green Bay! At 100 feet in the air, you’ll feel like you’re sitting on top of the world as you enjoy the bay stretching out in front of you and the sun melting into the horizon.
Introduced in 2019, the Big Wheel has 20 roomy gondolas — one of which is wheelchair accessible — and can fit up to six riders per car. And the best part? It’s only 75 cents. Yup, less than your average vending machine snack for one of the best sunset views in the city. Grab your friends, your kids, or just your inner child, and take a spin at golden hour.
Lions Trailside Park
863 Killarny Trail, De Pere, WI 54115
Kids love it for winter thrills, but locals know that the top of the sledding hill is one of the best places in East De Pere to catch a wide-open view of the sunset. You won’t find water access or amusement park rides here, but what you will get is a peaceful, elevated perch with big-sky views and a quiet, neighborhood feel. Bring a blanket, take a deep breath, and settle in as the sun puts on a show.
Long Tail Point Lighthouse
If you like your sunsets with a side of shipwreck vibes and historical intrigue, Long Tail Point is the place to be. Perched on a long sandbar out in Suamico’s Dead Horse Bay, this now-abandoned lighthouse site feels like something straight out of a coastal ghost story.
Originally built in 1848, the Long Tail Point Lighthouse is now just a weathered ruin, but the views? Still fully intact. Accessible only by boat, this spot is perfect for sunset-chasers who want a little adventure. Drop anchor, hop ashore, and explore the sandbar as the sky lights up around you. It’s remote, it's rugged, and it’s one of the most unique sunset spots in the entire Green Bay area.
Sunset Beach Park
3384 Sunset Beach Ln, Suamico, WI 54173
With a name like Sunset Beach Park, you already know the views are going to deliver, and this cozy little spot on the Bay of Green Bay does not disappoint. Tucked off Sunset Beach Lane, this .64-acre park is perfect for anyone who likes to mix a little adventure with their evening views.
Whether you’re launching a canoe or kayak, settling in for some bird watching, or spreading out a picnic blanket, this park’s sandy-bottom shoreline and gentle shallow waters set the stage for a peaceful, picture-perfect sunset.
Bay Shore County Park
5637 Sturgeon Bay Rd, New Franken, WI 54229
Perched atop the Niagara Escarpment, Bay Shore Park offers some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the bay. The ancient geologic formation, carved out by a sea that existed 400 million years ago, sets the stage for scenic hiking trails that follow the escarpment’s edge, perfect for stretching your legs before or after sunset.
Boating and fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the breakwater, protected harbor, and boat launch facilities, making it easy to get out on the water and catch that perfect golden hour from a new perspective. Meanwhile, the nautical-themed playground, complete with a giant wooden ship, keeps the little ones busy with high-seas adventures of their own. Bonus: furry friends are welcome here, too. As long as they’re on a leash, they can join in the sunset fun.
