Have you heard the great news? July is National Ice Cream Month!

Green Bay is home to a whole bunch of locally-owned ice cream parlors that know how to have fun with their flavors and menus. No matter what you’re craving, you’re going to find something exciting here. In this blog, we’ve rounded up just a small selection of unique ice cream treats that you should try the next time you’re visiting us!

Disclaimer: Not everything listed here is technically ice cream, but it’s close enough, and it’s all delicious, so let’s just be cool, okay? 😉

Deep-Fried Ice Cream from Los Banditos

Los Banditos is a local favorite for fajitas and CCQ (aka chili con queso), but we’re here to talk about their Deep-Fried Ice Cream. First, you get to pick from chocolate, vanilla, or butter pecan ice cream. Then they roll it in their almond crunch batter before deep frying it until it hits that perfect “warm outside but perfectly cold‑inside” sweet spot. Then it gets topped with a drizzle of your choice, whipped cream, and almonds. It’s like nothing you’ve ever had before… trust us.

Fruit-Shaped Ice Cream Pops from Main Oriental Market

Not only is Main Oriental Market one of the best family-owned Asian food markets in Green Bay, they’re also a great place to pick up a little treat to go. You’ve probably seen those (almost) too perfect to eat fruit-shaped ice cream pops that are all over TikTok and Instagram. You know, the ones with the hard coating that looks so satisfying to bite into? You can usually find at least a few flavors inside of the freezer cases along the south wall of the market.

Banana Cream Pie Gelato from Sara’s Gelato

Now, this might not be the most unique item on this list, but when you think of gelato, you usually think of strawberry, mint chocolate chip, or pistachio. And those are great! But the next time you visit Sara’s Gelato, try a scoop of the Banana Cream Pie. It’s made with real bananas and crushed Nilla wafers, so it tastes exactly like the comfort food dessert we all love so much… just colder, creamier, and way more fun to eat on a hot summer day.

Ice Cream Pies from Brainfreeze Ice Cream Shoppe

Speaking of pies, Brainfreeze Ice Cream Shoppe specializes in ice cream pies that can feed your whole crew! Each pie starts with a graham cracker or chocolate crust, followed by a heaping layer of Chocolate Shoppe ice cream. Then it's loaded with sauces, toppings, and frosting around the edge. Literal perfection. Grab a pre-made pie from their case or choose your own flavor combo if you have a few days to plan ahead and place an order!

The Triple Threat from Zesty’s Frozen Custard

This one is only for those with a SERIOUS sweet tooth. The Triple Threat from Zesty’s contains one scoop of raw cookie dough, one scoop of hand-made frozen custard, and a brownie that is drizzled with your choice of peanut butter, hot fudge, or hot caramel. Oh, and the whole thing is topped with chocolate flakes. We’ve never heard of something this loaded and this delicious. It's a must try during your next visit.

Arroz Paleta from Neveria La Princesa Michoacana

Neveria La Princesa Michoacana is a cute little ice cream shop with several cases of hand-scooped ice cream flavors and over a dozen varieties of paletas. You really can’t go wrong with any of the options here, but one of their most unique paletas is Arroz. Think of it like rice pudding on a stick! The flavor is subtle, with a warming cinnamon note at the end. This is a great choice if you are someone who tends to avoid super sweet flavors.

The Shipwreck Sundae from Suamico Creamery

If you’re spending time on the north side of Green Bay, you will absolutely want to stop at Suamico Creamery to try their July special, which is called The Shipwreck Sundae. This creation features Cedar Crest’s “Pirates Bounty” ice cream (a creamy caramel ice cream with M&Ms and Oreos), which is then topped with MORE caramel, Oreos, mini M&Ms, whipped cream, a hidden gummy shark, and a pirate flag on top. So much fun!

Sure, you can always grab a classic cone. But if you are visiting Green Bay during National Ice Cream Month and want something a little more memorable, a little more Instagram‑worthy, or just plain delicious, you have some great options here! Which one are you going to try?
