Farmer’s Markets aren’t just a great place for locals to stock up on farm-fresh produce and artisanal goods. It’s also a great place for visitors to participate in Green Bay’s vibrant culture!
Whether you hit up the Saturday Farmers Market on Washington Street or the Wednesday Evening Farmers Market on Broadway, you’ll experience a friendly, festive environment focused on community. And of course, great food, handmade goods, outdoor yoga, and live music!
If you’ve never been to a Green Bay farmers market before — or even if you have — here are 12 booths we think you should check out:
Wayne’s Jerky - Once you try Wayne’s Jerky, you’ll understand why it’s a local favorite. Try your favorite “traditional” flavor, or try something new, like Door County Cherry Beef Jerky, Cranberry Turkey Jerky, and Hot Mushroom Jerky. In addition to the Saturday and Wednesday markets, Wayne’s Jerky is sold over 40 grocery and convenience stores in Wisconsin.
Voyagers Sourdough - We’ve talked about the many merits of Voyager’s Sourdough on this blog before, and the Wednesday and Saturday markets are a great place to try it for yourself… if you get there early enough. Voyager’s is known for selling out of their loaves early so make their booth one of your first stops — you won’t regret it, promise!
Minzo’s Kitchen - You won’t need to look for this booth, just follow your nose! The enticing smell of smoked meat will lead you to Minzo’s. You can find this booth at the Saturday and the Wednesday market, and it’s a great choice if you work up a hunger while you’re shopping! At the Saturday market, you can find barbeque breakfast and lunch items, and delicious dinner options at the Wedneday market. Whatever you order, you won’t be disappointed!
uBu Foods - uBu Foods is a small, family business that makes healthy food with fresh ingredients, using local growers when ever possible. Their fresh and freeze-dried hummus is probably what they are best known for, but they also sell an amazing Macha Chili Oil featuring puya, pasilla, ancho, and morita chilis. It’s delicious on SO many things!
Susie-Q Fish - If you’re looking for fresh fish, the Susie-Q Fish booth should be at the top of your list. You can find them at the Saturday market selling smoked salmon, whitefish, whitefish spread, trout, bluefin herring, salmon spread, and more! They also sell several varieties of frozen fish. Just look for the red “Susie-Q” booth!
Full Circle Community Farm - Full Circle Community Farm is a certified organic community-based farm that only sells to local outlets. At their booth, you can find certified organic vegetables, pasture-raised eggs, grass-fed beef, and pastured pork. You can find them at the Downtown Green Bay Saturday Market on Saturday mornings!
O So Good Kettle Corn - You can find “the best popcorn around” at both the Saturday and Wednesday market… just look for the O So Good Kettle Corn booth! This is a locally owned and operated family business that specializes in kettle corn, caramel corn, cheese corn, and cotton candy. We highly recommend getting a large bag and maybe a backup for later, too.
Field and Forest Products - This booth is awesome and a must-visit for mushrooms and mushroom kits. They’ve been growing mushrooms for over 40 years and they love educating people about the amazing world of fungi. Fun fact: Field and Forest Products crafted the first organic standards for certified organic mushroom cultivation on logs!
May See Yang Farm - This family-run farm has been selling produce at the Downtown Green Bay Farmers Market for over 15 years and in that time, they have become a staple for the community. Depending on the time of year, you can find onions, peppers, greens, potatoes, young plants, herbs, carrots, beets, radishes, kale, cucumbers, eggplant, and squash!
Yoders Fried Pies - Who doesn’t love pie? These fried pies have everything: flaky crusts, mouthwatering fillings, and a delicious golden brown finish. They’re the perfect treat to savor as you walk around the market, but be sure to grab a few to take home with you, too.
Kickaas Cheese - Did you think we were going to get through this entire list without including a cheese booth? Kickaas Cheese is a hand crafted artisan and affinage cheese company. Their booth always has a variety of options, like camembert, brie, aged manchego, smoked gouda, cheese curds, string cheese, and their fan-favorite pistachio log!
Mini Boss Kid’s Market - Support young entrepreneurs by shopping at the Mini Boss on Broadway Kid’s Market during the Wednesday farmers market. This isn’t *technically* a booth, rather a series of booths in a little side market, but it deserves a spot on this list for sure! The kid’s market is a place for children to learn business skills, financial literacy, and responsibility, and there are some truly talented kiddos in our community! Shop original artwork, crochet creations, and delicious sweet treats, and make a little kid’s dreams come true!
