If there’s one thing Wisconsin does better than anyone else (besides winning at cheese and football), it’s the supper club. In fact, back in the 1930s, the very first supper club was created by a Milwaukee native, Lawrence Frank, and Wisconsin has never looked back. Yes, they exist throughout the upper Midwest, but we perfected the art.
Supper clubs hit their stride after Prohibition ended, when everyone was ready to enjoy a cocktail in public legally again. Many early supper clubs had dance floors, live music, and enough space to host the entire wedding party and the wedding party’s cousins and the wedding party’s cousins’ cousins. Traditionally, they were all-night destinations—cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, and entertainment. Today, the vibe varies from nostalgic to modern, but the essentials remain. American comfort food, Friday night fish fries, and the Wisconsin icon, a brandy Old Fashioned.
So where do you go in Green Bay for that classic supper club experience? Pull up a chair!
Club Chalet
4642 Nicolet Dr, Green Bay, WI 54311
Cozy. Scenic. Unapologetically heavy on the ice cream cocktails. Club Chalet welcomes you with a view of the bay, chef-inspired daily specials, and over 40 ice cream drink options.
Ice cream cocktails (basically, alcoholic milkshakes) have been a supper club favorite since the 1940s. Some standout flavors at Club Chalet include Pistachio Mint Cream, Purple Orchid, and Tootsie Roll. They also offer non-alcoholic versions for kids (or adults who don’t want to nap immediately after dinner). Daily specials rotate, but you’ll see classics like lobster, Black Angus prime rib, and baked half-chicken. And, of course, there’s the Friday Fish Fry. Walleye filets, citrus swordfish, grilled Atlantic salmon.
Long Drive Supper Club
897 Riverdale Dr, Hobart, WI 54155
Don’t worry, the drive isn’t that long. Fifteen minutes from Green Bay and you’re at the Brown County Golf Course, where the Long Drive Supper Club awaits. Led by the former executive chef from Green Bay favorite Wally’s Spot, the menu hits all the supper club essentials like steak, ribs, seafood, and pasta. Their Friday Fish Fry lineup includes lake perch, Cajun catfish, and a classic walleye fry.
Heritage Modern Supper Club

1004 Brett Favre Pass, Green Bay, WI 54304
Located inside the Legacy Hotel (just a short stroll from Lambeau), Heritage is exactly what the name promises: a Wisconsin supper club with a modern twist. Think sleek ambiance meets timeless comfort.
The menu leans upscale, with dishes like beef tenderloin au poivre, miso-glazed sea bass, and duck breast. But don’t worry, they still serve good old-fashioned ice cream drinks. Order a Grasshopper, Golden Cadillac, or Brandy Alexander and enjoy the delightful overlap between “sophisticated” and “boozy milkshake.”
Kropp’s Supper Club
4570 Shawano Ave, Green Bay, WI 54313
If you want supper club history, Kropp’s has it. The building began as the Lawler House way back in 1904, serving as a boarding house and pub for travelers on horse-drawn wagons headed into Green Bay. Kropp’s officially entered the supper club scene in 1946, and today they’re still serving up traditional classics inside that same red brick structure. Serving steaks, fish, warm dinner rolls that deserve their own fan club, and more supper club favorites, you won’t find a more quintessential supper club vibe.
Union Hotel & Restaurant

200 N Broadway, De Pere, WI 54115
Speaking of history, the Union Hotel in De Pere has been a staple in the community for almost 150 years! Established in the late 1800s, the Union Hotel Restaurant serves classic supper club fare like homemade ham salad on the relish tray, family-recipe dinner rolls, and hand-cut steaks. Entrées include lobster ravioli, sautéed scallops, surf & turf, ribeye, and yes, a classic Friday Fish Fry. The building also features gorgeous Art Deco details added during a 1933 remodel. Many elements remain beautifully preserved today.
The Marq
3177 French Rd, De Pere, WI 54115
Known primarily as one of Green Bay’s premier wedding reception venues, The Marq is also home to a charming supper club that hits all the right notes. Hand-muddled Old Fashioneds, a cozy atmosphere, and a Grasshopper that’s worth writing home about. Besides lots of yummy supper club menu items to choose from, Friday features haddock, perch, and walleye, and Saturday boasts a slow-roasted prime rib special.
River’s Bend

792 Riverview Dr, Green Bay, WI 54303
Supper club meets fine dining a River’s Bend, where classic Wisconsin supper club energy is combined with a touch of elegance. With over 40 years of culinary tradition and a recent renovation, it’s both nostalgic and fresh. Enjoy riverside views and perch or cod during Friday Fish Fry, and if you visit on a Sunday, don’t miss their brunch. You’ll find a carving station, omelet station, dessert bar, and bottomless mimosas.
