Summer in Wisconsin tends to get all the glory. Kayaking on the lake, hiking on the trails, making that hole-in-one on the disc golf course…we’re getting warmed and toasty just thinking about it! BUT winter is its own kind of special wonderland in Green Bay, if you know where to look. Once the snow starts to fall, the outdoor fun doesn’t end; it just shifts gears.

Where to find winter sports adventures in Green Bay

Baird Creek Triangle Sports Area
Start your winter adventure at Baird Creek’s Triangle Sports Area, complete with a heated chalet, restrooms, concessions, and a whole lot of winter sports fun! Barrel down the 80-foot tubing hill (with a magic carpet lift to get you back to the top in a jiffy) or hit the skiing and snowboarding slopes and zoom down one of the two 75-foot ski and snowboarding hills. Cross-country skiers can enjoy 3.37 miles of groomed trails, while snowshoeing, fat biking, walking, and hiking are also welcome in the surrounding Baird Creek Greenway.
Tubing is $7 per person and tubes are provided. Grab your pass at the rentals building on the west end of the park. A base of 8–12 inches of snow is needed before tubing, skiing, and snowboarding can open. Check their Facebook page for daily updates on conditions and openings before you head out!
Titletown
If you’ve been in Green Bay for more than ten minutes, you probably already know about Titletown’s Ariens Hill. This 46-foot landmark transforms into the city’s most iconic tubing hill when winter hits. And for those who prefer gliding over zooming, lace up for a spin around the Hy-Vee Plaza ice skating rink—skate rentals are available and fun themed skate nights abound.
Hit up Thursday’s Glow Skate from December 4th through February 26th, where neon lights cover the rink (pro tip: wear your brightest gear so you shine too). Community Nights on select Mondays offer $4 admission—including skate rentals—and $4 unlimited tubing passes. And, as a holiday bonus, you can even skate with Santa on Saturdays in December!
Check their website for hours, pricing, and special events. Season passes for both tubing and skating are available.
Green Bay Winter Trails

Peaceful woods, gorgeous snowy scenery, and miles of space to explore—who could ask for a better winter wonderland? You can find it all at four different Brown County Parks, across 34 miles of marked and groomed winter trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. You’ll find these at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve, Neshota Park, and the Reforestation Camp—all offering warming shelters so you can thaw out between adventures.
Need gear? The N.E.W. Zoo Adventure Camp rents fat tire bikes, cross-country skis, and snowshoes so you can hit the Reforestation Camp trails fully equipped. As a bonus, the Reforestation Camp features over 3 miles of lit trails (thanks to Bay Nordic Ski Club and generous community donations), making evening skiing extra magical.
Hilly Haven Golf Course & Ledgeview Golf Course
Trade your golf clubs for snowshoes or fat tires, because these courses refuse to sit out the snowy season. At Hilly Haven and Ledgeview, winter is when the fun really starts.
Hilly Haven transforms into a snowy playground with snowshoe trails, fat tire bike trails, and cross-country ski routes—about 15 miles of regularly groomed trails ranging from beginner-friendly to advanced. Rentals are available for all activities, so you can try something new without committing to the gear. Ledgeview Golf Course also offers beautifully groomed winter trails for skiing and fat biking (no snowshoeing).
Green Bay Area Ice Rinks
Once temperatures dip, ice rinks pop up across the city like winter magic. In Green Bay, you’ll find hockey and skating rinks at Astor, Beaver Dam, Colburn, Edison, Perkins, and Red Smith parks. There are no skate rentals at these rinks, so dust off your own pair before heading out. Over in De Pere, lace up at VFW or Legion Park, where outdoor skating and hockey rinks are available.
If you're looking for an elevated winter outing, head to Howard Commons, open through mid-February, offering skate rentals and the opportunity to rent a cozy Winter Igloo for your non-skating companions.
Fat Biking Rides
Fat biking is having a major moment in the Green Bay area, and winter group rides make it even more fun. Join regular rides and meet fellow cyclists with Pete’s Garage, Broken Spoke, and Suamico Bike Company throughout the season.
Suamico Bike Company is getting in on the fat biking action with special events throughout the season. Try Snow Queen Fat Bike School on December 20th, a women-only, four-session program introducing the fundamentals of fat biking. Or hop in the saddle for the Fat Bikes & Christmas Lights group ride on December 18th.
Looking for trails? Some of the best fat biking routes include the Reforestation Camp, Baird Creek Greenway, He-Nis-Ra Park, Calavera Springs, Hilly Haven Golf Course, and Ledgeview Golf Course.
