This month’s Mentor Moments took things up a notch with a little friendly competition at Midwest Super Speedway.
Eli and Isaiah hit the track for a day of go-kart racing, but like every outing in this series, it was about much more than who crossed the finish line first. It was about connection, laughter, and creating moments that stick.
“I grew up with two sisters, so being able to have a little brother, even if we're not blood related, is pretty cool,” Eli shared. “Getting to hang out and give him experiences that I wish I would have had as a kid has been really awesome.”
From the start, their competitive energy was clear. Between playful trash talk and bets that may or may not have included $1,000, the two kept things lighthearted while pushing each other on the track.
“Isaiah’s very competitive, as am I,” Eli said. “Every time we hang out, he’s always trying to beat me.”
And this time, Isaiah did just that.
“I thought I was going to lose… but then I won,” he said with a smile.
While the race brought plenty of excitement, it’s the bond between the two that stands out most. Eli spoke about Isaiah’s character, pointing to the small moments that make a big impact.
“He definitely has a big heart,” Eli said. “He cares so much about his siblings, his mom, his friends, it’s all he talks about.”
Mentor Moments, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin, highlights how simple outings in Green Bay can turn into something meaningful. Whether it’s racing laps or sharing stories, these experiences help build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create lasting memories.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about winning the race, it’s about showing up, spending time together, and making it count.
