The U.S. Open kicks off this week, and watching it tends to bring out the golfer in everyone. When you watch the pros sink a shot, you suddenly feel like you could do the same. If you’re visiting Green Bay and feel that spark, you are in luck. This area has an awesome mix of courses for every skill level, from total beginners to golfers who love a serious challenge. Here is your guide to golfing around Green Bay.
For the Beginners:
Village Green Golf Course
📍302 Riverdale Drive, Green Bay

(📸 Village Green Golf Course & Club)
Located in Howard, Village Green Golf Course is a municipal 9-hole course that is perfect for new golfers. The fairways are wide, the layout is forgiving, and the whole place has a relaxed, easygoing feel. It is a great spot to build confidence without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Golfers who have not played this course for a while will notice that a new creek has been constructed on Hole 9. The creek extends from the west end of the existing pond that follows the fairway into a portion of Hole 8. Other improvements include a water fountain on Hole 5, new paved paths on several holes, and added drainage throughout the course. The greens are in excellent playing condition.
The Woods Golf Club
📍530 Erie Road, Green Bay
The Woods Golf Club is a unique 13-hole layout that is ideal for players who are still learning the game and getting confident on the course. It gives you just enough of a challenge to help you improve, but not so much that you will want to toss your clubs into the nearest pond.
The Woods is also a great place to work on your skills, like putting and driving. There are two practice greens to practice your short game, and a driving range that is open seven days a week, weather permitting. You can get a large bucket of balls for just $10 and have a blast driving them as far as you can!
For Intermediate Players:
Brown County Golf Course
📍897 Riverdale Drive, Hobart

(📸 Brown County Golf Course)
Brown County is a classic parkland-style 18-hole course with mature trees, rolling fairways, and gentle elevation changes. It is the kind of course that regular weekend golfers love because it rewards good shots without punishing the occasional slice.
This course also has some great deals after 3 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Fridays after 4 p.m. are another great time to go: one child can play 9 holes for free with a paid adult. They also offer senior discounts on Mondays and Wednesdays!
Hilly Haven
📍5911 County Road PP, De Pere
Hilly Haven is a favorite with a layout that keeps things interesting. You will find elevation changes (thanks to the Niagara Escarpment), a natural waterfall, creative holes, and a mix of challenges that will be tons of fun for intermediate golfers. Locals and visitors love this one because you can play again and again and still discover something new each time!
Another thing that’s great about Hilly Haven is their high-definition golf simulators. You can play championship golf courses from around the world and use the built-in practice tools to perfect your game. It’s a fun alternative if the weather isn’t good enough to be out on the green.
Mid Vallee Golf Course
📍3850 Mid Valley Drive, De Pere
This 27-hole golf course is unique because they are able to rotate between the three nines daily, offering golfers more variety. Another thing that is great about Mid Vallee is their dynamic pricing. Rates are adjusted in real time based on factors like day, time, weather, and demand. Choose what works best for you and pay accordingly!
Want to try something new? FlingGolf is a dynamic new sport that you can play here right alongside golfers. Basically, it combines the basics of golf with the dynamic techniques of lacrosse. The equipment is included in the cost, so give it a try if you have some time!

Their two Rick Jacobson-designed courses, the Legends and Iroquois courses, provide totally unique experiences from hole to hole.
In addition to a stunningly beautiful course, they also have a golf simulator, sports bar, and restaurant on site. While you’re there, be sure to ask about their Hole in One promotion!
