In De Pere, there’s a place where the evening can start with a glass of wine and end with a new book tucked under your arm.

Pages & Pours is part bookstore, part wine bar, and fully a gathering space, an inviting spot where locals and visitors can slow down, browse the shelves, enjoy a charcuterie board, and stay awhile. The space feels intentionally designed for connection, whether you’re meeting a friend, attending a community event, or simply taking a moment for yourself.

Owner Mark Hank describes Pages & Pours as an experience that’s meant to feel different from the moment you walk in.

“What people can expect when they walk into Pages & Pours is a bookshop that surprises and delights them… a warm, welcoming environment… experientially really different than any bookstore they’ve ever been in.”

From an Idea to a De Pere Destination

Pages & Pours opened within the last year, but the inspiration behind it started long before the doors officially opened.

Mark and his wife have always loved bookstores and the joy of exploring them. After moving to De Pere, they noticed something missing: at the time, the community didn’t have a dedicated bookstore.

That’s when they began thinking bigger. In other cities, they had seen bookstore-and-bar concepts that created a more social, relaxed experience, one that made it easy to stay longer than planned.

So, they brought that idea to De Pere, creating a bookstore combined with a wine bar, craft beer, and charcuterie.

“We’ve seen this concept in other cities where a bookstore is combined with a bar… So we decided to combine it with a wine bar and offer craft beer and charcuterie. That way, it creates a different experience.”

Today, Pages & Pours is the only bookshop with a wine bar in Northeast Wisconsin, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite place to gather.

Wine, Local Beer, and Charcuterie with a Literary Twist

As much as Pages & Pours is about books, it’s also about the experience: sipping something you enjoy, trying something new, and pairing it all with a cozy atmosphere.

Their beer selection highlights local Wisconsin craft brews, while their wines are thoughtfully curated with variety in mind. Mark explains that the selection is designed to match the seasons and preferences, with options from around the world.

Expect everything from lighter, fruit-forward choices in warmer months to richer pours in the winter.

When it comes to food, the star is charcuterie.

Pages & Pours offers charcuterie boards and platters that are as creative as they are delicious, with an extra touch that fits the identity of the shop: a literary theme woven into the presentation.

It’s one of those details that makes the space feel unique, something you remember and want to come back to.

A True Community Gathering Space

Pages & Pours isn’t just a place to shop or grab a drink, it’s a place to spend time.

Mark describes the business as a blend of multiple experiences under one roof: a food service establishment, a drinking establishment, a bookstore, and a community space. Bringing all of those elements together isn’t always easy, but for him, the payoff has been worth it.

As the shop grows, so does its impact- especially through the events and gatherings it hosts, including:

  • Storytimes

  • Author events

  • Community-centered experiences that encourage people to linger, connect, and return

Mark also shares that one of the most meaningful parts of the business is who he gets to run it with. Pages & Pours is a family effort, and that connection is part of what makes the space feel so personal.
