October is National Pizza Month, and what better way to celebrate than by asking the people who know best where to find the best pizza in Green Bay?

We asked online and out in the community, and let’s just say, Green Bay residents have strong opinions about their pizza. From crispy thin crusts to creative toppings and cozy tavern vibes, here are the spots locals swear by when it’s time for a slice (or five).

Cranky Pats

709 Bellevue St, Green Bay, WI 54302

When you ask around about pizza in Green Bay, Cranky Pat’s comes up again and again, and for good reason. “Cranky Pat’s has the best pizza,” one local said, while another added, “Their mushroom pizza is crazy good.”

This place is practically part of local history. Pat Earle (Cranky Pat himself) started serving up his signature pies in 1955, and nearly 70 years later, the recipe hasn’t changed. Cranky Pat’s is all about that thin, crispy crust, made-from-scratch sauce, and toppings piled high.

If you’re new here, start with Pat’s Special—double sausage, double mushrooms, plus two more toppings of your choice. Or branch out with the Loaded Baked Potato Pizza, topped with bacon, onions, cheddar, and garlic butter sauce. And if you need a taste of that Cranky Pat’s flavor at home, you’re in luck! They even have frozen, take-home pizzas.

Cocoon Brewing

If you haven’t tried the pizza at Cocoon Brewing yet, locals insist you’re missing out. “The spicy sausage pizza slaps,” one person told us, while another couldn’t stop raving: “Oh my god, don’t get me started on Cocoon! Because it is the BEST pizza I have ever had. It is heavenly every time.”

Cocoon’s Neapolitan-style pizzas are baked to perfection with crisp edges and plenty of flavor to go with your craft beer. The brewery’s laid-back setup, with yard games and cozy outdoor “cocoons,” makes it the perfect hangout spot.

Locals love classics like the Margherita or White Mushroom, and their seasonal creations shine. Try the Brat Fall Pizza, topped with beer cheese, caramelized onions, brat slices, and sauerkraut.

Jake’s Pizza

112 S Broadway, Green Bay, WI 54303

For over 50 years, Jake’s Pizza has been turning out some of Green Bay’s best pies. One resident put it best: “My absolute favorite pizza in the city. Where else can you find a shrimp scampi pizza? And I love that they have games to play while you wait for your food.”

The Shrimp Scampi Pizza is a great place to start to get the Jake’s vibe, but the Reuben Pizza is another standout, especially for fans of bold flavors. With 19 toppings to choose from, it’s also the perfect place to build your dream pizza, one topping at a time. And with a slogan like “Green Bay’s Superior Pizza,” can you really go wrong with your order?

Crown & Common

1139 Main St, Green Bay, WI 54301

New York-style pizza fans, rejoice—Crown & Common is here to prove that big-city flavor can thrive in Green Bay. “Crown & Common has shockingly solid New York style,” said one local, a self-described “NY-style snob.” Another agreed, calling it “truly excellent.”

Their signature crust is thin, chewy, and foldable (because yes, that’s how it’s supposed to be eaten). Try the Italian or Classic Supreme for the perfect slice of East Coast flavor in the Midwest.

Bonus: You can feel extra good about eating this pizza, because through their Crown Cares initiative, a portion of the profits from every Signature Pizza sold goes to local charities and organizations.

Luigi’s Italian Bistro

2733 Manitowoc Rd #5, Green Bay, WI 54311

When it comes to no-nonsense, old-school Italian pizza, locals agree on one thing: “Luigi’s Pizza, easy choice.” Another added, “100% this. Luigi’s is the best.”

Luigi’s is the kind of place where every bite tastes like Nonna made it. Their pizzas feature classic Italian flavors, from the Luigi’s Special (loaded with sausage, green peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms, and pepperoni) to the Sicilian Style Pizza, seasoned with garlic and olive oil.

Not in the mood for tradition? Try something different, like the Mediterraneo, Hawaiian, or even Joe’s Cheeseburger Pizza. Luigi’s might make you feel like you’re in Italy, but with a distinct Green Bay twist.

Rustique

Ask locals where they take guests to impress them, and Rustique will likely come up. “We enjoy Rustique as a treat when we have people come into town,” one resident said. Others were more succinct: “Rustique gets my vote for sure.” Or simply, “Only one answer. Rustique.”

Housed in a 122-year-old chapel in Suamico, Rustique combines history, charm, and brick-oven brilliance. The vaulted ceilings and original hardwood floors make the perfect backdrop for pizza that’s both artful and indulgent.

Favorites include the San Mateo, topped with prosciutto, spinach, roasted red peppers, and goat cheese, or the Angry Bee, a sweet-heat masterpiece drizzled with honey and hot chili oil. It’s a must-try for date night or any night that calls for pizza with a little flair.

Sammy’s Pizza

2161 S Oneida St, Green Bay, WI 54304

For over six decades, Sammy’s Pizza has been feeding Green Bay families with recipes passed down through generations. “I love Sammy’s three cheese with fresh garlic,” one local said, while another declared, “Sammy, hands down.”

Everything, from the dough to the sauce to the Italian sausage, follows the original recipes of founders Sam and Louise. That consistency is what keeps fans coming back year after year.

The Classic Combo is their most popular pie, loaded with sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, and your choice of mushrooms. It’s old-school, comforting, and exactly what pizza should be.

All Shook Up Tavern

N5384 County Rd E, De Pere, WI 54115’

Here’s one that locals describe as a hidden gem. “It looks like a dive bar,” one person admitted, “but they make these amazing little pizzas. They have such unique creations.” Another simply said, “All Shook Up Tavern has some great pizza!” with a reply from another local to keep it a secret with just a “Shhh…” When you’ve got locals trying to keep the pizza a secret, you know it’s good!

All Shook Up serves up farm-to-table pizzas that push the limits of what pizza can be. Their Heartbreak Hotel Pizza layers garlic cream sauce, Wisconsin mozzarella, bacon, roasted potatoes, rosemary, and chives, finished with a sour cream drizzle. They’re also known for their unique fruit pizzas, topped with pears, peaches, apples, or even cantaloupe. As the owners say, “We can’t help ourselves! Fruit and prosciutto are a match made in heaven.”

Chicago Street Pub

875 Heritage Rd, De Pere, WI 54115

Finally, over in De Pere, Chicago Street Pub keeps locals loyal with their classic thin-crust pizzas and family-owned charm. One resident called out this favorite: “Chicago Street Pub has a really good specialty pizza called the Westside. It is loaded and has chunks of cream cheese that are put on late in the baking. Good and very distinct.”

The Westside is indeed a standout, topped with mozzarella, pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, and those decadent cream cheese dollops. Or go for the Street Pub Six, loaded with all the classics—pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, peppers, olives, and sausage. With 20 pizzas on the menu, everyone at the table will find something to love.

Gallagher’s

1651 S Webster Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301

330 Reid St, De Pere, WI 54115

2655 W Mason St, Green Bay, WI 54303

2306 Lineville Rd #101, Suamico, WI 54313

With four locations across the Green Bay area, you’re never far from a Gallagher’s Pizza, and that’s a very good thing. Serving up mouth-watering pies since 1996, Gallagher’s has become a go-to for pizza night in the area.

One local put it simply: “Whenever we're ordering pizza, my kid requests Gallagher’s. Classic pepperoni is a hit every time.” It’s that kind of dependable, crowd-pleasing goodness that keeps Gallagher’s at the top of so many lists.

Happy Joe’s

1675 E Mason St, Green Bay, WI 54302

If there’s one pizza that defines Happy Joe’s, it’s the legendary Taco Joe Pizza—a creation so iconic it has its own fan base. According to Happy Joe’s, they were the first restaurant in the world to dream up a taco pizza, and locals have been obsessed ever since. The website even describes its following as “cult-like,” and honestly, they’re not wrong. One resident told us, “My wife really loves Happy Joe’s Taco Pizza,” while another added, “We get the taco pizza every time.” It’s the kind of tradition that never gets old. Crisp crust layered with refried beans, taco-seasoned beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and crunchy tortilla chips. Basically, it’s everything you love about tacos and pizza rolled into one glorious bite. Beyond the pizza, Happy Joe’s is also a favorite for families. With arcade games and plenty of kid-friendly fun, it’s the perfect spot for an easygoing pizza night.
