Green Bay and Brown County have more parks than we can count, making it a regional park paradise with something for every kind of park-goer. For this edition of our Ask a Local series, we asked Green Bay residents about their favorite city and county parks. Keep reading to find out where you should explore next!

Baird Creek

Ever the crowd-pleaser, it’s no surprise Baird Creek tops the list!

“It’s a great little walk in any season,” says Green Bay Reddit user ApprenticeDave, “Fun amenities, like the soccer field, and the playground.”

Another Green Bae (yup, we’re still trying to make it happen), told us the Baird Creek pump track is “the best thing they’ve added in recent years.” The pump track, added to the greenway in 2023, gives riders a place to hone their mountain biking skills and offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced tracks.

Ted Fritsch Park

Ted Fritsch Park on the city’s far west side gives visitors a chance to feel immersed in nature without ever leaving the city!

Green Bay Reddit user HappyCamper0325 says of the park, “It reminds me more of a summer camp than the average neighborhood park since it's surrounded by a wooded area rather than houses. There are so many amenities along with a decent-sized hiking trail.”

Pamperin Park

Another Green Bay favorite, especially since its major playground makeover in 2023, Pamperin Park topped the list of many of our locals.

“It has a large, inclusive playground with easy trails, fishing, volleyball, bathrooms, grills, and disc golf,” said Green Bay Reddit user kfxrcer, “and they also have a cool old wooden bridge across Duck Creek. I’m often with my kids and see a lot of people getting their pictures done there.”

“A lot of my high school classmates got their senior photos taken there,” noted another local Reddit user. (You can find Pamperin Park, along with some other great Green Bay spots for senior pictures, in another Discover Green Bay blog here!)

Plus, new this year at Pamperin—a large open-air facility available for rentals. This new covered space is more than 5,500 square feet and can hold weddings, reunions, company picnics, birthday parties, and more. Whatever reason you have to celebrate, Pamperin has got you covered (literally).

Aldo Leopold Playground

Looking for more inclusive park options? Aldo Leopold Community School’s park is open to the public and recently underwent a full playground overhaul, making it all-inclusive and ADA-compliant.

"I love the playground at Aldo Leopold,” said local Reddit user Serenata67, “It was recently rebuilt and very accessible.”

“Kids got to help design it,” one student told us, “That’s how you know it’s good.”

We can’t argue with that!

Sensiba State Wildlife Area

Sensiba offers beautiful waterfront scenery along both the Suamico River and the bay, making it ideal for spotting wildlife, especially birds.

“I love that the hiking trail is a loop,” said Green Bay Reddit user Electronic-Advice791, “Variety of scenery in under 3 miles and phenomenal birding.”

Stop at one of the several designated birdwatching spots along the trail and try to catch a glimpse of marshbirds like the Sora and Black-crowned Night-Heron.

Meadowbrook Park

Meadowbrook, located in Howard, is a great park if you’re looking for variety!

Local Reddit user Capable-Piglet2701 said of the park: “Trails, playgrounds, volleyball courts, and even some hidden corners to just sit and relax. Perfect for an afternoon with friends.”

Bayshore Park

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better view of the Bay of Green Bay than at Bayshore Park. It sits atop the Niagara Escarpment—a geological formation created 400 million years ago by an ancient sea!

“It has a campground, a boat launch, hiking trails along the escarpment, a beach with good skipping stones, and a pirate ship playground,” Green Bay resident, John B. told us, “And the toilets never have spiders in them!”

Sherwood Forest Park

If you need a little R & R or a serene afternoon picnic, Sherwood Forest is the place to go.

“Sherwood Forest is so relaxing,” local Reddit user amazonchic2 told us.

“Walking through the evergreen arboretum at Sherwood is magical,” said another Green Bay local, “And most people don’t even realize it’s there!”

Now that you know, dear reader, you can have your own magical adventure through the evergreens!

Bay Beach Amusement Park

You didn’t think our locals forgot about Bay Beach, did you? There’s no better way to enjoy a summer afternoon or evening than at this iconic park.

“What local doesn’t love Bay Beach?” asked Green Bay resident Taylor M., “Zippin Pippin for life!”

You heard the lady—grab your tickets and get in line. Summertime is here, and the parks are waiting!
