General Summary

Wholly responsible for meeting the annual partnerships budget, The Director of Partnerships will play a crucial role in the organization, influencing its success through strategic relationship-building, innovative sales strategies, and effective management of partnership initiatives.

Responsibilities - Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and manage budgets for partnership initiatives, including recommendation of annual funding allotment, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Responsible for meeting annual partnership budget and reporting on financial performance, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Set ambitious SMART goals for partnership development, visitor center programming, advertising sales, and promotional events.
  • Responsible for meeting business targets of memberships, fundraising, sponsorships, advertising sales, and marketing cooperatives for Discover Green Bay publications and promotions, including but not limited to the annual destination guide, website, and visitor center.
  • Recruits new membership partners through cold call, prospecting and participation in appropriate business-to-business and community functions.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to renewing and prospective members, highlighting the individualized benefits of partnering with our organization. Effectively communicating the benefits and ROI of membership opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategies for advertising sales across various media platforms including digital display advertising, email marketing, print advertisements, and our annual Destination Guide.
  • Promote and manage marketing co-op sales programs to support joint marketing efforts with partners.
  • Develop and implement engaging visitor center programming including events, exhibits, and activities to enhance the visitor experience and showcase local attractions and businesses promoting partner brands.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts, including identifying potential donors, preparing grant proposals, and organizing fundraising events to support the organization’s initiatives.
  • Acquire sponsors and donors for Discover Green Bay products and events.
  • Oversee fulfillment of promotional brochures and materials inside our visitor center as well as distribution sales to local businesses, tourist information centers, and other key locations.
  • Plan and execute events that promote the destination and engage both visitors and local stakeholders, informing them of the benefits Discover Green Bay brings to our community including networking events as well as our annual Tourism Awards and Holiday Reception.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department on the creation and distribution of partnership materials, including marketing collateral, promotional items, and other resources. Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all platforms.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and contracts. Guarantee the fulfillment of partnership agreements by coordinating the delivery of promised benefits and services to partners maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Manage the partner onboarding process, develop orientation and platform training materials and presentations including but not limited to the extranet, event calendar submissions, and the industry website.
  • Promotes the Tourism Insider Program to educate frontline staff in the industry on the experiences and amenities the Greater Green Bay community has to offer.
  • Ensure all receivables from partnership agreements are collected in a timely manner. Work with the finance team to track outstanding invoices and follow up as necessary.
  • Maintains exceptional customer service for partners and prospective partners, responding promptly to requests.
  • Manage and utilize CRM software to generate regular reports on partnership activities, outcomes, and ROI as well as ensure accurate data management and analysis.
  • Monitor and report to the Discover Green Bay team on the performance of partnerships. Analyze data to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provides regular feedback on partner and community sentiment, updates, activities, views, ideas, and concerns while relaying the information to DGB staff in a timely, organized fashion.
  • Lead the implementation of partnership strategic plans, projects, and initiatives outlined in the Destination Marketing Plan.
  • Create and implement an effective long-term partnership plan in coordination with the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities - Supplemental Job Functions:

  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and development in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature and proactively attending related conferences and seminars.
  • Maintains knowledge of current elected officials and provides support to President in monitoring political activities that could affect the tourism industry and DGB partners at the local, state and national level.
  • Responsible for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including local businesses, tourism-related organizations, and other potential partners.
  • Measure and analyze community sentiment, using surveys and other tools to gauge public opinion and ensure alignment with community needs and expectations, continually evaluating strategic procedures based on results.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote sales opportunities.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential partners and understand industry trends. Stay informed about industry partners, competitive landscape, and market conditions by attending industry events, marketplaces, tradeshows, conventions, sales calls, and networking opportunities.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, sales, experiences, and operations, to ensure alignment and successful execution of partnership initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of business, marketing, hospitality, sales, tourism and communications at a level normally acquired through completion of a degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years proven marketing, sales, communications, or hospitality experience necessary to gain a full understanding of principles and methods for showing, promoting and selling products or services.
  • A high-caliber leader with proven experience in structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations while overseeing sales strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful customer services initiatives.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills needed to serve as liaison between the hospitality and tourism communities and personnel. Must have the ability to give persuasive and influential presentations which promote the area to small and large groups of customers. Confidence to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment focused on continual growth by maintaining a positive outlook to drive strategic change.
  • Skilled in effective time management with the ability to offer a flexible schedule as this position occasionally requires irregular work hours.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience in sales/group management systems.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail and thoroughness in completing projects.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical Demands:

Frequent mobility and/or sitting or standing required for extended periods of time. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and other standard office equipment. Requires hearing within normal range and eyesight correctable to 20/20 to read communications, reports and computer terminals. Must have a valid driver’s license in order to perform outside sales calls. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires some irregular work hours. Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperate and the like. Subject to outside sales calls so is exposed on a frequent basis to temperature extremes.
