WHERE TO STAY

If you want to be close enough to all the action during your visit, but not *right* in the midst of it, Allouez is the perfect place for you. The Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham is located about a mile south of the downtown district and only an eight minute drive from Lambeau Field. This pet-friendly, all-suite hotel will make you feel like you’re right at home in Greater Green Bay!

Need to grab some groceries or get a little exercise during your stay? Ask about their free bike sharing program! Guests can borrow a bike (complete with a full size basket, helmet and lock) completely free of charge! How cool is that?

GOOD GREAT EATS

Green Bay has a rather large German population, so it only makes sense that you can find mouth-watering authentic German food here. Lorelei Inn is *the* place to get a wienerschnitzel or a heisse schlachte (hot meat) plate. They also have one of the best beer selections in the city. They have several Hacker-Pschorr beers on tap and if you like Guinness, you’ll definitely want to try a properly poured pint at the Lorelei.

If you are looking for a lighter meal, try Studio 1212 Cafe & Wine Bar. This intimate restaurant is situated right on the eastern shore of the Fox River, so needless to say, the ambiance cannot be beat. The dishes are prepared with local ingredients whenever possible, and their wine list is sure to impress. If you can, try to stop out on a Wednesday, when they offer half off their bottles of wine from 4 to 7pm!

For a dining experience both kids and grown ups will love, you HAVE to go to Zesty’s Frozen Custard and Grill. This place is a local obsession for a reason. Try one of their charbroiled butter burgers, but don’t say we didn’t warn you. You’re going to be dreaming about it for weeks, months, and even years to come. Finish your meal with a dish of their rich frozen custard or one of their larger-than-life novelty sundaes!

DON’T WORRY, BE HOPPY

Craft beer is really having a moment, and no one does it better than Greater Green Bay (after all, we’re kind of known for it). Find your new favorite brew at Zambaldi Beer, a family-owned craft brewery in the heart of Allouez. In the summer, you can sip a pint on the patio, or grab a table in the taproom! They even have a play area to keep the kids entertained while the parents sip their beer, cider, or seltzer.

GET A HISTORY LESSON

The number one thing that makes Allouez unique is its rich history. Learn all about life in the 1800s as you tour the Hazelwood Historic House Museum. This classic Greek revival home on the banks of the Fox River has been expertly preserved so you can see first-hand how people lived back then, all while learning the story of Green Bay’s growth from a frontier settlement to a bustling community.

Heritage Hill State Park is another great place to visit if you love to learn! Experience life as it was in the early days as you explore this 56 acre living history park. Go all the way back in time to the La Baye Fur Trade (which started in the early 1700s) and walk through the well-preserved historic buildings to see artwork and artifacts from years gone by.

UN-BE-LEAF-ABLE BEAUTY

In addition to all the amazing history, Allouez is also one of the most scenic parts of Greater Green Bay. Why not take a nature break and stroll (or bike) down the Fox River State Trail? Allouez’s stretch of the trail is nestled between Green Bay and De Pere, and you’re going to love the views of the river and the gorgeous architecture of the homes that line the trail.

If a quiet picnic is more your speed, grab some lunch and head to Green Isle Park. This park literally has everything you could possibly want. We’re talking playgrounds, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, a soccer field, volleyball and tennis courts, a gorgeous walking trail, and access to some great fishing spots! In the winter, they even have ice skating in the park!

After spending all that time in nature, you might want to take some of it home with you. We highly recommend a visit to Schroeder’s Flowers. They’re a family-owned full-service florist that has been serving the area for over 100 years. They are the go-to spot for flowers and plants, and they also have a fantastic gift shop with items from local makers and artists.
