von Stiehl Winery
von Stiehl Winery resides in a Civil War-era building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Not only is the building historic, but von Stiehl boasts being Wisconsin’s oldest licensed winery! As with many fine wines, von Stiehl has been aging very well, perfecting their products since the 1960s. Since their beginning, von Stiehl has won numerous awards for their wines.
On the von Stiehl wine list are 30 different wines. von Stiehl grows many of its own grapes and utilizes other local fruit whenever possible. At their Algoma vineyard, they grow traditional vinifera European origin grapes and French hybrids. von Stiehl also uses West Coast-grown grapes where the climate is friendlier for Cabernet Sauvignon producing grapes.
All of their wine is produced in the vineyard and winery in Algoma, about 30 minutes east of Green Bay located right on the scenic shores of Lake Michigan. Take a tour of von Stiehl Vineyard and Winery and then head over to their neighbor Ahnapee Brewery.
