Upon walking into the Lorelei Inn, you’ll think you stepped into a German pub. The decorations, beers poured and food served trace its roots in the Germanic folklore and heritage so familiar in Wisconsin. If you’re looking for authentic German fare, you’ll find sauerbraten and wiener schnitzel on the menu. There is also some German-American favorites like liver and onions or haddock.
Lorelei Inn has been serving the beers of Hacker-Pschorr straight from Munich since the bar’s beginning—over 40 years ago. There are 11 beers on tap, six of which are dedicated to European imports. Along with tap beers, Lorelei Inn carries about 80 different bottled beers. The wine list also offers something for everyone, but sticking with the German theme, there are several options of German Rieslings. Prost!
You’ll notice a large mural of a woman sitting on a rock in the middle of the ocean. The story behind this is as follows. The Lorelei Rock is located on the bank of the Rhine River near Sankt Goarshausen in Germany. Legend has it a beautiful maiden threw herself in the Rhine in despair over a faithless lover. Many fishermen have been lured to destruction near the Lorelei Rock.
While you may be lured to Lorelei Inn, you’ll only find a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food and drink. This has become a favorite neighborhood establishment as well as a must stop for visitors. You’ll find this cozy restaurant just south of downtown Green Bay.
