Ladies and Gentlemen,
we have a winner!
Hundreds of
you participated in last month’s First Ship contest, and several
of your guesses were right on the money! The first ship to arrive
in the Port of Green Bay and launch the 2005 shipping season was
the John G. Munson, from Toledo, Ohio. The Munson made its arrival
on Wednesday, March 30th carrying 17,000 tons of coal. A
close second in the race was the Cason J. Callaway from South Chicago,
also arriving on March 30th with 17,000 tons of coal.
A random drawing was
conducted to select a winner from the several correct entries received,
and we are happy to announce:
Congratulations
to Jim from Green Bay!
Jim received a prize
package including the books Great Lakes Ships We Remember and Lighthouses
of the Great Lakes, dinner for two (2) at the Holiday Inn City Centre
River Room, and a Great Lakes CD.
A big THANK
YOU to everyone who participated, and watch for future contests
offered through Packer Country!
